Super Affordable Makeup Brushes

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming back here to read this! Today’s post is about a super affordable 8 piece eyeshadow brush set by Beauty Junkee. I have mentioned some of their other products in my earlier videos (detangler brushes and kabuki brush). Their products are truly quality and a great price. How can you beat that?!

The 8 piece brush set that I have retails for $39.97 but with code MEGHAYT10 you will receive $10 off. Each individual brush also retails for $9.97 and with code MEGHAYT25 you will receive 25% off one single brush. Click HERE to be taken to the website.

Brushes Included:

Flat definer

Pro crease

Tapered blending

Precision eye liner

Angled shading

All over shading

What I love most about this kit is that each brush in here is actually something you would use. I find that most sets/kits always throw in a few unnecessary brushes that you don’t really need, and you’ve had to pay for them since they’re in the kit. I also like that some of the brushes are synthetic and the others, natural bristles. This makes them very versatile to use for different looks.

Natural bristles are made of animal hair, and tend to pick up less product to deliver a natural look. This is especially great when you’re working with very bright or dark colors because the brush won’t deposit so much at first go. This way you can keep building to get the desired effect. Synthetic bristles are man made and pick up a lot of product. This is great when you’re working with brushes to pick up eyeliner.

Hey Guys!

I asked on instagram and twitter if I should have a blog sale to get rid of my hoards of makeup that I no longer need or use, and I got an overwhelming response saying to definitely do it! So after weeks of posting that, I am here and ready to do it!

The makeup I am selling is not “bad” in any way. I have stopped using these products because either they don’t suit my skin color anymore, or I don’t need them in my kit any more. I’m sure you guys have seen me talk about may of them in my videos. I also am selling a few brand new items.

Each item is pictured as is, and will be sanitized and cleaned up before sending out. I am a makeup artist so I definitely take great care to sanitize!

Please email me at with what products you want in the subject and your paypal and shipping address in the message. I will send you an invoice to pay for the item. Please pay within 24 hours, or the item(s) will go to someone else.

This sale is first come first serve. Whomever I receive the emails from the soonest for the products are the ones who will get them.

Indian Bridal Makeup Tutorial

Hey everyone!

Today I created an Indian/South Asian bridal makeup look for you guys. This is one of my most requested looks, so I had to do it! I decided to go all out and wear jewelry, veil my head, and the full outfit. This look is in collaboration with Arshia from Happy Treasuress (click on the name to be taken to her video!!). She did a makeup look for the mehendi/sangeet ceremony which precedes the actual wedding ceremony. Be sure to follow me on instagram  All links are down below too!

Our culture is very colorful, and our weddings are even more so. Our traditional wedding color is red and usually has thick gold embroidery and beading. Due to this, makeup artists tend to favor gold for the eyelids. Some brides feel comfortable rocking a dark red lip in conjunction to the red outfit, but most modern brides who come to me don’t want that look. I feel more comfortable with a lighter lip too with such a dark outfit, so that is what I chose. I hope you guys enjoyed this look! Don’t forget to watch the video on how I achieved it on my youtube channel. The widget to take you there is down below!

When achieving makeup looks like this, its important to keep in mind that the jewelry and outfit have a lot to do with the final look! While the makeup might look super over done without all of the trimmings, the second you have your full outfit together everything starts making sense.

Here are some of Arshia’s pictures from her look!

I hope you guys loved this look as much as I did creating it. Here are the links:

Review: Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

Hey everyone!

Today I’m reviewing the new Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. This came out recently along with a full coverage powder foundation to add to the pre existing Naked line. Urban Decay dubs this a “weightless” formula- this seems to be the new trend in the cosmetics industry! There are 8 shades in the range, and each shade specifies an under tone, which I thought was really helpful. I got the shade Medium (neutral), and it was $28. I could probably stand to go up a shade if I didn’t want the bright look, though.

I did not expect to love this concealer the way I do since I didn’t love the Naked Skin Foundation. I bought this in a shade much lighter than my skin tone as a highlighter, not thinking that it would be creaseless. Basically, I thought it would be just like the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer which although is a concealer and super high coverage, creases. Due to this, I wear the Nars over my Mac Pro Longwear as a highlighter.

This concealer is AMAZING. Yes, amazing. It is extremely lightweight (right on, Urban Decay!), but still gives a lot of coverage. This means that it can be worn alone and do the job of highlighting as well as concealing! I like that it doesn’t gray on the corners of my eyes like my Mac one does, which means that it is thicker.

The consistency is thinner than the Nars one, but thicker than the Mac pro longwear. It is a hybrid between a liquid and a gel, in my opinion. Opaque, yet not heavy. And it doesn’t crease!

The applicator is pure heaven- not the typical stiff doe foot, rather a thinner, flat, and malleable one.

I apply this concealer with the applicator- each side does one eye, and then blend it out with a beauty blender. A brush works the same, but I like how well the beauty blender pushes it into my skin.

I have an entire video on this product- full review and demo, so don’t forget to check it out!

IMG_2816The amazing applicator. It honestly is amazing! Flexible, and soft

I love this concealer and would absolutely recommend this to everyone. Since the shade range is small (only 8 colors) you might not be able to find the exact color for a concealer, but you should be able to find one to highlight if you like that Kim K look.

– lightweight

– awesome applicator

– great coverage

– great with blending (can use whatever method you like)

– creaseless

– each one says a name as well as under tone so easy for makeup  beginners!

– only 8 colors in the range

– price (hefty at $28!)

Review: Benefit They’re Real Push- Up Liner

Hi Guys!

I recently purchased the Benefit waterproof “They’re Real Push- Up Liner” and I wanted to do a quick review. I went into Sephora looking for a matte black liquid eyeliner that stays in place. After trying out a few from Kat Von D, Stila, and a few others, the Sephora sales girl helped me find this one. We settled on it because it was the darkest one out of all that I swatched, but also because when I rubbed on it it didn’t budge and there was no feathering at all.

This eyeliner is a gel consistency one, not a liquid like I had originally intended on purchasing. The concept is what made me actually make the purchase- a gel in a pen form, rather than in a jar that you apply with a brush. It seemed more user friendly to me.

This eyeliner goes for $24.

IMG_5484This eyeliner has cute and durable packaging. Twist off cover, and shiny black all over. Sleek too!

IMG_5487After opening the twist off cap, there is a rubber tip exposed which is parted when the gel comes out. You have to twist the bottom to release the gel. The first time will take a while to release the gel, keep that in mind!

IMG_5485The rubber tip is pretty sturdy and is cut at a curve to make it easier to apply

IMG_5486Swatched on the back of my hand. Its super dark and the line is still pretty thin

– darkest black I have seen in a while

– gel is a thick consistency so you don’t have to draw over a few times

– the tip makes it much easier to draw a cat eye

– more efficient than a jar and brush combo to draw on eyeliner

– waterproof

– very difficult to get off your eyes! Even days later you’re still taking off remnants of it

– can’t draw a thinner line than what I have shown in the above picture due to the size of the rubber head

– wastage can occur if you twist off too much (which you will in the beginning when you’re getting used to it)

– the rubber head can get clogged so there might be some clean up before using it

– pretty expensive. I would be more likely to buy this product if it was $16-$18

My Favorite Way to Shop: Ruelala

Hey everyone!
If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you know that I am OBSESSED with a website called Ruelala to shop. I have reached that stage in my life where I like fewer, but better things. However, I hate paying full price for them, and especially taxes!! I love my designer bags/clutches, and I find that Rue always has the best deals. Read on below to understand how to use this site! I also have a code that you guys can sign up with to receive $10 off your first purchase. No, this post is not sponsored in any way- I’m just sharing my favorite way to shop!

Ruelala has changed the way people shop. They have revolutionized the shopping experience and taken away the concept of shopping cart abandonment. Ruelala is a members- only website that offers a fashion experience through its private sales held daily at 11 am EST. The concept revolves around giving their members exclusive discounts valid only for 36-48 hours, during which time people flock to the website to grab items they have wanted. There are limited quantities of each item, which causes a stir and more excitement built around this type of experience.

The company started in 2008 by Ben Fischman, the same CEO who originally started Lids. Yes, that Lids that sells hats in almost every mall today. Fischman understood the idea of heightening anticipation to make a product sell faster, which would also remove shopping cart abandonment. How many times have you gone to a website, picked out a few items and added them to your cart- only to leave them there and continue going about your day? There was no catalyst to make you buy the product immediately. Rue changes this concept by only offering limited inventory. This means that if you do not act fast, the item will sell out and you won’t have the option of purchasing it anymore. Also, once added to the cart, each item only stays there for about 10 minutes while you continue to browse.

This method of shopping is called “flash sale,” and has worked wonders in recent times because fashionistas worldwide (much like myself) keep their eyes on upcoming boutiques and set aside a few minutes each day to look into and shop the sale.

The excitement around Rue extends to customers who want brand name items such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Fendi, Jimmy Choo, etc. but cannot pay full price in store. All of these brands offer discounts between $200-$400!

What do you think about this “get it while you can” model of shopping? I use this every day to see what I might want, and I have saved so much by buying from here rather than in store or other websites.

I have a code that you can use to sign up and save $10 when you purchase your first item! Keep in mind, they offer all kinds of brands. From Sperry Topsider, to Prada, from Gymboree to YSL, they have it all. Its for men, women, and children, and they also have deals on travel getaways!

OOTN: Leather, Lace, Studs

Hi everyone!

I can’t explain how much I love leather and studded things. Leather always looks powerful, and studs have that cool rocker esque feel that I really enjoy. Luckily for me, Atlanta is still pretty cold so leather and studs are still approved =) Below is a look I created for a dinner a few weeks ago. Its simple, yet has elements of edge. If any of the pictures are showing up sideways, its because there is a formatting problem between Apple and WordPress. They are trying hard to resolve it! In the mean time, click on the picture to see it normally.

tousled hair I stuck to two colors for the entire look- black and heather gray

inverted feetI tried this look with pumps, but it made it too “pretty” as opposed to stylish. So I stuck with these stiletto booties

side viewMy favorite part of this look is the bib necklace. I love how well it covers up the entire chest area, and that since there is so much silver on it, it matches the studded clutch

another side viewI chose to have the sleeves of the gray sweater show at the cuffs rather than hiding them to show more pops of gray

FullSizeRender copy 3A textured blazer (here, in lace) always adds a fun element to the look

Here is a close up for the studded clutch

foiled eyesTo make the look glam, I chose foiled eyeshadows (Makeup Geek)

open eyes

This look utilizes a few different elements. Mixing textures, (lace blazer, leather leggings, and studded clutch). as well as a monochromatic palette for the most part. There are just two colors used- gray and black. I love the simplicity of it, but the textures add that edge I so love. Another way to make this look even trendier as opposed to soft would be to tie up the hair in to a slick ponytail so all eyes are focused on the necklace. I chose to go with metallic, foiled eyeshadow to make my eyes really pop.

Heather gray sweater: BCBG Generation (bought on Rue La La)

Leather leggings: Forever 21

Black lace blazer: Guess

Black and silver bib necklace: Forever 21

Black studded clutch: Jimmy Choo (bought on Rue La La)

Lip Swatches of the Gerard Cosmetics/Whitening Lightning Lip Products!

Hey guys!

As promised, below are the lip swatch stills from my video. I don’t have pictures of all the ones I talked about, but here are a few! Check out my video to see them all. 10 glosses and 4 lipsticks in action. I have been using Gerard Cosmetics products for about a year now, and just thought to do a video on it. No clue why I didn’t before! These products are so creamy and buttery, and feel great on the lips. The glosses are tacky (not sticky) and really stay on well. The pigmentation is just out of this world! The lipsticks are matte (which is perfect because I have bigger lips) and are velvety when applied. These can stain a bit, so make sure you get a great makeup remover to take them off! I use the MAC oil based one. I do have a coupon code for you also as well as a link- Check below!

OOTN: Sassy and Stylish

2014 was the year of high waisted skirts for me. I picked up this gem in Singapore, and I love the pleating! It makes it a bit fancier, and gives a definite shape. If you have smaller hips like me, look for something like pleating to help give you shape! I paired this metallic cropped sweater to jazz up the black a bit, and make the outfit a bit more festive. The gladiators were added to give the look a bit more masculinity with the feminine pieces. I love how it turned out!

Frontal The metallic sweater really helps to make the look a bit more glitzy for night time!

wallThe turtle neck of the sweater made me immediately reach for a statement necklace

side slitsThe side slit of the skirt makes it so easy to walk in, and adds just the right amount of drama

close up of gladsClose up of the gladiator sandals! I chose a style that has a full back zipper as well as adjustable straps so that it fits my legs the way I want them to

back viewHow impossibly feminine is this skirt?! Lots of room for movement and the waistband keeps it in place!

Top: Nasty Gal

Skirt: Department store in Singapore called Robinsons

Necklace: Wantable Co (monthly jewelry/makeup box)

Gladiators: Steve Madden

Would you guys wear a look like this?

Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation Review

Hi everyone!

I was anticipating the arrival of the new Nars foundation for quite some time, and when I finally had the chance to try it out, I jumped all in. I wasn’t expecting a miracle due to the fact that the sheer glow (also by Nars) no longer works on me and I had pretty much given up on the possibility of any foundation being a holy grail after the MUFE mat velvet due to my oily skin woes. However, this foundation is a game changer. I wear the shade Syracuse for reference.

It is the THINNEST consistency FOUNDATION I have ever used, and it still has an insane amount of coverage. I would say its medium/full to full coverage. You only need one pump for your entire face- and this pump only dispenses a small amount, not the amount most pumps dispense! Not only that, it has the most gorgeous, luxurious velvet texture to it that makes it photograph really well, and looks like real skin. Once you apply it, it doesn’t look slippery or “wet” or “sticky” and therefore does not have to be powdered- thats a personal preference.

Also, its been wearing really well on my oily skin. I get about 5 hours of wear without any shine at all, and when it does start to shine, its the good, non oily kind. I find myself having to blot only after 7-8 hours, and thats only because I like it to be 100%..but honestly, its not a must. I do wear a translucent powder over it regardless.

And lastly, it photographs beautifully!!

Warning: If you’re viewing this on an iPhone, there might be a problem with some pictures appearing sideways..if thats the case click on it and hopefully this issue between Apple and WordPress should be resolved soon!
