My Favorite Way to Shop: Ruelala

Hey everyone!
If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you know that I am OBSESSED with a website called Ruelala to shop. I have reached that stage in my life where I like fewer, but better things. However, I hate paying full price for them, and especially taxes!! I love my designer bags/clutches, and I find that Rue always has the best deals. Read on below to understand how to use this site! I also have a code that you guys can sign up with to receive $10 off your first purchase. No, this post is not sponsored in any way- I’m just sharing my favorite way to shop!

Ruelala has changed the way people shop. They have revolutionized the shopping experience and taken away the concept of shopping cart abandonment. Ruelala is a members- only website that offers a fashion experience through its private sales held daily at 11 am EST. The concept revolves around giving their members exclusive discounts valid only for 36-48 hours, during which time people flock to the website to grab items they have wanted. There are limited quantities of each item, which causes a stir and more excitement built around this type of experience.

The company started in 2008 by Ben Fischman, the same CEO who originally started Lids. Yes, that Lids that sells hats in almost every mall today. Fischman understood the idea of heightening anticipation to make a product sell faster, which would also remove shopping cart abandonment. How many times have you gone to a website, picked out a few items and added them to your cart- only to leave them there and continue going about your day? There was no catalyst to make you buy the product immediately. Rue changes this concept by only offering limited inventory. This means that if you do not act fast, the item will sell out and you won’t have the option of purchasing it anymore. Also, once added to the cart, each item only stays there for about 10 minutes while you continue to browse.

This method of shopping is called “flash sale,” and has worked wonders in recent times because fashionistas worldwide (much like myself) keep their eyes on upcoming boutiques and set aside a few minutes each day to look into and shop the sale.

The excitement around Rue extends to customers who want brand name items such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Fendi, Jimmy Choo, etc. but cannot pay full price in store. All of these brands offer discounts between $200-$400!

What do you think about this “get it while you can” model of shopping? I use this every day to see what I might want, and I have saved so much by buying from here rather than in store or other websites.

I have a code that you can use to sign up and save $10 when you purchase your first item! Keep in mind, they offer all kinds of brands. From Sperry Topsider, to Prada, from Gymboree to YSL, they have it all. Its for men, women, and children, and they also have deals on travel getaways!

OOTN: Leather, Lace, Studs

Hi everyone!

I can’t explain how much I love leather and studded things. Leather always looks powerful, and studs have that cool rocker esque feel that I really enjoy. Luckily for me, Atlanta is still pretty cold so leather and studs are still approved =) Below is a look I created for a dinner a few weeks ago. Its simple, yet has elements of edge. If any of the pictures are showing up sideways, its because there is a formatting problem between Apple and WordPress. They are trying hard to resolve it! In the mean time, click on the picture to see it normally.

tousled hair I stuck to two colors for the entire look- black and heather gray

inverted feetI tried this look with pumps, but it made it too “pretty” as opposed to stylish. So I stuck with these stiletto booties

side viewMy favorite part of this look is the bib necklace. I love how well it covers up the entire chest area, and that since there is so much silver on it, it matches the studded clutch

another side viewI chose to have the sleeves of the gray sweater show at the cuffs rather than hiding them to show more pops of gray

foiled eyesTo make the look glam, I chose foiled eyeshadows (Makeup Geek)

This look utilizes a few different elements. Mixing textures, (lace blazer, leather leggings, and studded clutch). as well as a monochromatic palette for the most part. There are just two colors used- gray and black. I love the simplicity of it, but the textures add that edge I so love. Another way to make this look even trendier as opposed to soft would be to tie up the hair in to a slick ponytail so all eyes are focused on the necklace. I chose to go with metallic, foiled eyeshadow to make my eyes really pop.

OOTN: Sassy and Stylish

2014 was the year of high waisted skirts for me. I picked up this gem in Singapore, and I love the pleating! It makes it a bit fancier, and gives a definite shape. If you have smaller hips like me, look for something like pleating to help give you shape! I paired this metallic cropped sweater to jazz up the black a bit, and make the outfit a bit more festive. The gladiators were added to give the look a bit more masculinity with the feminine pieces. I love how it turned out!

Frontal The metallic sweater really helps to make the look a bit more glitzy for night time!

wallThe turtle neck of the sweater made me immediately reach for a statement necklace

side slitsThe side slit of the skirt makes it so easy to walk in, and adds just the right amount of drama

close up of gladsClose up of the gladiator sandals! I chose a style that has a full back zipper as well as adjustable straps so that it fits my legs the way I want them to

back viewHow impossibly feminine is this skirt?! Lots of room for movement and the waistband keeps it in place!

Top: Nasty Gal

Skirt: Department store in Singapore called Robinsons

Necklace: Wantable Co (monthly jewelry/makeup box)

Gladiators: Steve Madden

Would you guys wear a look like this?
